Recent Shows: Godspell

Since its premiere, Godspell has remained an immensely successful rock opera, breaking new ground in its stage treatment of Jesus Christ. Godspell is based on the Gospel according to Matthew, and this modern and contemporary retelling is a joyous celebration of music, mime, comedy and slapstick. The score of Godspell calls on all modern musical influences, including Rock, Gospel, Ragtime - and includes the hits "Prepare ye the way of the Lord," and "Day by Day".

The story of Godspell speaks to the passion of Jesus Christ; to teach love and joy in the hearts of people rather than hate and sadness. It speaks of loving your neighbor, forgiveness, tolerance and celebration. In that vein, we have a cast that comprises all the colors and ages of San Francisco, with a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-everything-else cast including 12 professional adult actors and an equally wonderful cast of children.
